On 16 May another meeting of the Break with Plastic parliamentary team took place. The deputies in its composition this time focused on the issues related to the implementation of the bail system for plastic and glass packaging.
In Poland, recycling is still at a very low level, the amount of plastic packaging produced so far increases year on year. There are various options to combat this pressing problem today, including the concepts of total plastic withdrawal from widespread use or the introduction of a so-called bail system.
The deposit system is one of many concepts of combating plastic. Unfortunately, in Europe alone, this system has so far only functioned in 10 countries. As part of its assumptions, the largest possible amount of packaging is processed in order to be recycled. In some countries, up to 90% of packaging is processed. The deposit system usually includes plastic, glass and aluminum cans.
