“There is no socio-political festival like this in our part of Europe”. We are launching the 4th edition of the Campus Poland of the Future!

On Friday, the fourth edition of Campus Poland of the Future, initiated by Warsaw Mayor Rafał Trzaskowski, began in Olsztyn. – This place and initiative are absolutely unique. There is no such socio-political festival in our part of Europe,’ said Trzaskowski. – ‘Thanks to Campus, so many young people have decided to get involved in socio-political life,’ said Education Minister Barbara Nowacka.

– The Poland of the Future Campus, which starts on Friday in Olsztyn, is a unique place and initiative; there is no such socio-political festival in this part of Europe. Most importantly, what matters in life and politics is consistency. This is already the fourth edition. We have announced that every year we will organise Campus Poland of the Future regardless of political circumstances,’ said Trzaskowski during a conference announcing the week-long event in the capital of Warmia and Mazury.

He added that four years ago the organisers said that the first edition of the Campus was the beginning of a dialogue with the young generation. – In each subsequent year, we have managed to organise the Poland of the Future Campus regardless of whether the democratic parties were in opposition, an election campaign was just taking place or, as is the case today, the democratic parties co-govern Poland and define the most important directions for the future,’ he stressed.

Trzaskowski pointed out that this is a year-long endeavour. More than five thousand young people have taken part in the editions so far. – This is an army of committed people, young people who care about Poland, who want to talk about what is most important to us,’ he stressed. He added that it is young people who are taking over the organisation of the Campus, which, he pointed out, ‘gives hope that the Campus will last for years to come’. He said that this will also guarantee that fresh ideas will emerge, and that the Campus is a completely independent venture.

The Minister of Education, Barbara Nowacka, emphasised that this year’s edition has 1,100 participants. – Energy, dialogue and change, because let’s not kid ourselves – Campus will and does influence Polish politics. Thanks to the Campus, so many young people have decided to get involved in socio-political life,’ she said.

She stressed that those who participated in the first edition are today often leaders of change in local communities. She added that there are ‘several MPs and MEPs who also started their political adventure with dialogue and work on Campus’.

Minister for Sport Slawomir Nitras said that ‘this year’s Campus will be unique because for the first time those who hold real power will be present. – It will be the first time that an incumbent Prime Minister will be on Campus. We are putting the Prime Minister, ministers, those in power in the hands of the youth for them to confront. The questions asked are never questions with a thesis to make someone uncomfortable, to hurt someone. Questions are there to address issues,’ he said.
