Mayors of Warsaw and Prague, Rafał Trzaskowski and Zdenek Hrib, went to Kiev to meet with the city’s mayor Vitali Klitschko. „They are showing their solidarity with Ukraine, with the Ukrainian nation. They are declaring support on our road to the European family,” Klitschko said after the meeting. „We are here also to show our readiness to help. If anything happens, both Warsaw and Prague are ready to provide this help,” Trzaskowski said.
„Crucial things is that we’re here to demonstrate our solidarity with Kiev and the Ukrainian nation (…) We want to show that in this difficult hour, we are standing together with the mayor of Kiev,” Mayor of Warsaw Rafał Trzaskowski said. „We’ve asked Kiev to join the Pact of Free Cities,” he added.
„We are here also to show our readiness to help. If anything happens, both Warsaw and Prague are ready to provide this help,” he underscored.
„In Poland, we are coordinating our efforts undertaken with our local governments, so that we are able to help local authorities in the east of Poland, should the situation turn worse, if there is danger, but at the same time we are asking Vitaly what we else we could do when any troubles emerge,” Trzaskowski added.
„We can see that the city is functioning as usual. That it is in capable and strong hands, which gives plenty of hope for the future that nothing’s going to happen,” Warsaw mayor said.
